Describe the problem precisely
“I cannot access my ETH” can mean a lost password, a missing backup, the wrong account, a display problem or an unavailable custodial login. Write down the exact screen, error and application involved. Recovery work should start by distinguishing these cases.
Collect context without exposing secrets
- Original application or website, and approximate setup date.
- Whether you have a JSON backup, seed phrase, device or only an address.
- Whether you know the password, part of it or none of it—without sending the password.
- Whether the file was edited, converted, renamed or repaired.
- Any error message, with sensitive values removed.
- A brief list of prior attempts and whether each completed.
Preserve before experimenting
Keep the original device and backup unchanged. Work from a copy where appropriate and retain a record of how you obtained it. Avoid reinstalling, resetting or modifying the only surviving source merely to see whether it fixes the problem. The next action depends on the kind of evidence available.
Ask useful questions
Ask which wallet format the assessment covers, what data is required, how that data is protected and what constitutes a verified recovery. Understand any fee or engagement terms before committing. A result should be supported by evidence, not by a claim that every wallet can be recovered.
